World of Warcraft – Item Upgrading The upgrade of an item allows players to boost the gear rating of an item by up 700 points and also give it a bonus. This means that an upgrade from a sword with 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in a weapon receiving 3% of attack damage. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will strike 3 times less, as it is an absolute number. A weapon can also be rerolled using the green button with circling arrows in the item menu. This will roll an item and alter its stats, but it will not reset the weapon's levels, or tie it to the account status. Armor A few armor upgrades can make the world of difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which makes it easier to navigate through tough terrain. In general, the greater defense your character has the more value you get out of each point of health you have therefore it is important to improve your armor as much as you can. To upgrade your armor, go to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four in total and each one requires you to complete a unique side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you'll still wear at the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you use in the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant Mask. You can also gain perks for your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to beat the game. For example the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have some upgrades for the armor on your chest and helmets so that you can sneak around some monsters. Potions Potions are liquid substances that, if consumed, provide the user with the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five kinds of potions, each with a specific set of effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, enhancing their level of effect. Alternatively the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to them. Potion upgrades require a certain amount of XP. This can be obtained by making them on a crafting table or by placing them in the Alchemist chest.
